Urbina charged with murder, other crimes
Another man on remand tonight is Luis Urbina of Orange Walk. On Wednesday we reported on the twenty-two year old’s detention as a suspect in the June crime rampage by a group of men in the northern districts. Today Urbina has been charged with a list of crimes so long that it may take years just to try him. Those crimes include: murder, attempted murder, robbery, attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of deadly means of harm, common assault, threat of death, aggravated assault and unnatural crime. On June thirteenth a gang of men shot and killed Mennonite farmer Susanna Petkau, wounded her husband Enrique and then stole their vehicle. That night they kidnapped a young Corozal couple and brutally raped the woman. Mark Vega of Orange Walk was earlier charged in the incident and police are still seeking a third suspect.
