Belize will host Taiwan volunteers

A second document to receive joint approval from Belize and Taiwan was that of a programme to provide Belize with Taiwanese volunteers. Signing on behalf of Belize was Foreign Minister Assad Shoman, while Foreign Minister Eugene Chien signed for Taiwan. According to the Ministers, the volunteers will be participating in several nation-building initiatives in various sectors throughout the country.

“These include, human development, information technology, science and technology and support to the NGO community. Foreign Minister, that this has been made possibly is directly attributable to the genuine desire you have manifested in your capacity as minister, to share the wealth of the Chinese experience in nation building. Your concept of shared economic prosperity is founded on respect for democracy and human rights in the context of global peace and security. The bonds of friendship between our two countries are further strengthened by this programme which brings our citizens together in a way that natures these friendly ties. The people of Belize thank you and will make your volunteers feel most welcome.”

“These volunteers we drew from the private sectors and have been appreciated by our people. To make the maximum utilise of these volunteers, we have developed many agreements and projects on the volunteer co-operations with other countries. and I hope that in the near future we will have many volunteers come to these countries to render their services.”

The exact arrival date of the volunteers has yet to be announced.
