Nurse Leimi Ewan Perishes in Fatal RTA
There was a fatal accident on the Philip Goldson Highway on Wednesday evening which claimed the life of Nurse Leimi Ewan. The northern regional nurse was traveling from Crooked Tree to Orange Walk when she lost control of her vehicle near Rhaburn Ridge; she died on the spot. Two minors were traveling with Ewan, but fortunately escaped with only minor injuries.
Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, C.I.B., Eastern Division
“Police visited an area around miles thirty-three and thirty-four on the Philip Goldson Highway and upon arrival they found a Suzuki Grand Vitara, an SUV type vehicle, with an Orange Walk License plate, on the left hand side of the road in some bushes. It had extensive damages to the front and top of the vehicle. On arrival they discovered Ms Leimi Rosa De Jesus Ewan, a forty-five-year-old nurse of Orange Walk, with injuries to the head and body. She was pronounced dead on the scene. What police have been made to understand is that Ms Ewan was driving the vehicle from Crooked Tree in the direction of Rhaburn Ridge when she lost control of the vehicle and caused it to overturn. Inside the vehicle were two minors, a nine-year-old Astria Salam and a twelve-year-old Christopher Ewan. They received minor injuries and they were treated and released from the hospital.”
