San Narciso Businessman Kidnapped

Corozal police are investigating what appears to be a kidnapping in San Narciso Village.  Forty-three-year-old Homero Campos remains missing tonight, following an ominous phone call made to his family on Father’s Day.  The businessman had set out from his home en route to his farm when he was reportedly abducted.  It is a sensitive matter, one that has police tightlipped on the details of their latest case.  What little was shared with the media today did not include a confirmation on whether Campos’ kidnappers are demanding money for his safe return, but there is word that a million-dollar ransom is being sought.  According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, detectives are looking into the mysterious disappearance of a man who has no criminal record or known ties to the underworld.

“On yesterday’s date one Homero Campos, a forty-three-year-old businessman of San Narciso Village left his home en route to his farm to do work and up to the time of yesterday evening, he had not returned home.  His family had received a telephone call and the police have since initiated an investigation into his whereabouts.”

“Understanding the disclaimer and his safety is most important, are you able to say what the involvement of the police in the investigation in terms of a complaint or a report that has been made and you all are following up on certain leads?  What are the police doing?”

“The police are conducting searches along with family members within the area to see whether or not he can be located.  And yes, a call was made to the police department yesterday, concerning that Mr. Campos is missing.”

“Has a ransom request been made?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No, I will not venture into that other than to say that this is an ongoing investigation.”

“But that call yesterday was from family to police or…”

“Yes.”
