Suspects sought in jacking, con
Tonight Belize City police are looking for two suspects in separate robberies: one of them a brazen gunman, the other a smooth talker. According to the cops, back in early May, Dorothy Gideon-Castillo of Belize City bought eighteen hundred dollars worth of goods from businesswoman Marie Fuller, on the premise that the bill would be paid by the PUP Fort George Committee and the Prime Minister’s Office. But since then, Fuller has found out that Gideon-Castillo was not authorised to conduct business on behalf of the organisation and of course, attempts to contact her have proven fruitless. News 5 understands that this is not the first such scam Gideon-Castillo is alleged to have pulled off and anyone knowing her whereabouts is asked to please contact the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, police are also looking for a man who robbed a housewife at gunpoint early Monday morning. Twenty-one year old Genul Williams says she was walking along West Canal around 7:30 when a brown car drove up. She recognised the driver as one Nehru Smith. But Smith wasn’t offering her a ride; instead he put a gun to her face and took away her gold chain, worth an estimated six hundred and fifty dollars. Smith has yet to be detained by the police.
