A Manual for Youth Leadership is Presented to MOE
An official ceremony to deliver the Youth Leadership Resource Manual to the Ministry of Education was held today in Belize City. The instruction booklet has been successfully implemented in eleven high schools across the country and has been sanctioned by the Secondary Schools Support Unit. It will also serve as a resource tool for the Positive Youth Development Program curriculum. The initiative is the brainchild of RET International.
Malenie Barnes, National Program Coordinator, RET International
“Today was the official and public handing over of the Youth Leadership and Community Engagement Program Manual to the Ministry of Education to be used as a resource guide or a resource document for the Positive Youth Development Program that is currently being rolled out in all high schools in Belize by the Ministry of Education.”

“Talk to us about what that report, what that document contains in terms of following through with the goals of the program.”
“The manual is really culminating some work that we’ve been doing with youths as it relates to leadership. It helps to highlight an experiential or participatory process of engaging young people and included in the manual is some key activities that we’ve tested and found that young people respond better to these kinds of activities. Instead of the traditional teaching methods, they were more receptive to these activities, participatory based activities.”
The success of the manual and the program interventions is attributed to the partnership and support of secondary school principals, counselors and students.
