The Latest on Former City Admin’s Suspension Challenge
Five persons have been terminated from City Hall for various reasons since Mayor Bernard Wagner and his P.U.P. team took office; primarily due to redundancy. But the most notable termination was that of former City Administrator Candice Miller, who was initially suspended for a month for dereliction of duties before she was let go. Deputy Mayor Oscar Arnold was cautious in his response because her suspension is currently being challenged in court.

“The legal issue that we have in front of us right now was for the suspension that had initially happened for the month; that one we did receive. As far as the termination, we have received letters from her attorney requesting certain documentations. Indications are that that may end up the same route; I don’t know. What we have advertized in the local newspapers and we’ve received a few applications for people interested in that post. And the council along with the HR Department and the mayor will go along and do the interviews and if there is a decision that’s made, the media will be the first to know.”
