1 Man Detained for Shooting in Camalote Village

A farmhand is lucky to have escaped grave injury after being shot in the chest on Sunday in Camalote Village.  Jose Gonzalez had been working on a property belonging to the deceased Russell Hyde Senior when he was shot once to the right upper chest.  According to the shooting victim, he and a friend of his were returning from an area known as Buena Vista and on their way back, stopped at the farm.  While there Gonzalez’s friend and the alleged shooter began drinking and an argument involving the trio ensued.  It was during that scuffle that a firearm was produced and discharged in his direction, causing the injury to his upper body.  While an investigation has been launched into the incident, police have since detained one person in connection with the shooting.

“On yesterday’s date, Sunday, June twenty-fourth, police responded to an information at the Western Regional Hospital where they observed Jose Gonzalez with an apparent gunshot wound to the right upper chest.  Initial police investigation revealed that Gonzalez was at a farm owned by one Russell Hyde when he received the said injuries.  Police are conducting an investigation into this matter and so far one person is detained in connection with this investigation.”
