9-Year-Old Drowns in Corozal
Also up north, a nine-year-old student from Halls Layout drowned after a swim at the beach in Corozal Bay. Around midday on Monday, thirty-year-old Hector Kelly took his son, Mathew Andrew Gonzales to the beach for a swim and an hour later, saw Mathew floating unconsciously in the water. He was rushed to the Corozal Community Hospital for medical attention but could not be saved. The minor was pronounced dead around three-thirty p.m. The body now lies at the Corozal Hospital morgue awaiting a post mortem examination.
