UB Launches 4-Year Bachelors Programme in Statistics
The University of Belize recently launched a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics. The degree programme consists of a modern curriculum and includes instruction in use of software to manage, visualize and interpret data of all kinds. According to the university, the programme is a response to technical and professional needs that have been recognized as critical in building capacity within the S.I.B. “The degree itself consists of a modern curriculum and includes instruction in the use of software to manage visual and interpret data of all kinds; the use of probabilistic reasoning to draw conclusion from data; the design of experiment to provide insight into uncertain processes; the use of data to build model for complex systems. The degree program is a response to technical and professional needs that have been recognized as critical in building capacity within the Statistical Institute of Belize. The degree programme provides students with fundamental knowledge and skills related to harnessing official statistics; research design, design, analysis of surveys, probability, mathematical statistics, data analysis and statistical computing.”
