Home Invasion on Pitter Street

A couple endured a terrifying home invasion on Tuesday night on Pitter Street in Belize City. Fifty-eight-year-old Salvadoran national Vilma Ramirez and her husband Elias Ramirez were held up by two armed robbers inside their home and tonight they say they fear for their safety. Elias Ramirez says that the frightening ordeal happened sometime before ten o’clock, as he was inside his room watching T.V.  Vilma went outside to feed the dogs, but when she re-entered her home, she was surprised by two armed men—one was branding a machete and the other with a firearm. One of the men grabbed Vilma by the neck and his partner in crime entered the bedroom, tied Elias’ hands and feet and gagged him. The robbers then demanded money from Vilma and when she couldn’t produce cash, Elias said that his wife was stripped naked. Fearing that she would have been raped, Vilma reportedly handed over a cell-phone before the men proceeded to ransack the house. The armed thieves made off with a gold watch and a silver ring, along with two cell-phones. We were told that police have since recovered one of the cell-phones. The Ramirez couple, in fear for their lives, did not wish to appear on camera since the men may return to harm them. Police are investigating this incident.

Not a smart move to be outside if you don’t have to. Don’t ever give away your phone.phone
