Percussionist releases new CD

Story Picture
The Belizean entertainment scene has always included an eclectic range of musical genres, with everything from heavy metal to punta rock jamming the airwaves. One of the latest types of music determined to make its presence felt in Belize is jazz. One artist has decided to create a Latin jazz fusion by marrying the music of his homeland, Cuba, with the rhythms of his new country, Belize. According to percussionist Carlos Perrote, the compilation of songs, called Twin Boy will have wide appeal.

Carlos Perrote, Percussionist

“We try to put on the two music, the Cuban music and Belizean music together in Latin jazz. Never before has Belize has such a CD like that. We think about this and tried to make this music for the country. I worked on this CD for everybody because jazz is for select people and Belize is not very developed in this. We thought about this and made music for everybody. In Belize you have good music, not only Punta and Soca, you have different kinds of music that people enjoy in Belize.

Perrote will officially launch his new CD this Sunday night at the Radisson Fort George. Copies of the CD will be available at C.Y.’s and Venus Photo and Records for thirty dollars each.
