Lost at Sea for 25 days – Three Jamaicans drifted into Belizean Waters
Three Jamaicans who drifted for twenty-five days at sea were lucky to dock in Ambergris Caye on Thursday morning. The men, twenty-three-year-old Romeo Lewis, forty-four-year-old Karma Beckford and fifty-year-old Noel Samuels, all fishermen of Westmorland, Jamaica, were reportedly spotted sometime around eleven-thirty on Wednesday night and the San Pedro police were alerted. The authorities went out to check and learnt that the men were lost at sea. The fishermen, who were in a twenty-eight –foot fishing boat, were docked near the Grand Caribe Resort. All men were taken to the San Pedro Poly Clinic and were treated and released. Samuels, the boat captain, told authorities that they departed from Lucy, Westmoreland in Jamaican on June twenty-third around midday. They intended to go just fifteen miles off the coast of Negril, but began to experience problems and they later began to drift off to the open sea. And twenty-five days later they drifted into Belizean waters and moored in Ambergris Caye.
Luckily they weren’t caught up a storm.
