Police Say Rivero Street Resident was Killed on His Way Home From Work

Raymond Arnold

A thirty-four-year-old stevedore was shot and killed on Thursday night as he rode his bicycle from work at the Port of Belize Limited.  Raymond Arnold, a resident of Rivero Street in Port Loyola, was mortally injured when a gunman on motorcycle approached him and a friend he was riding with along Central American Boulevard.  Arnold was fired upon twice before his attacker sped off.  Despite being rushed to the K.H.M.H., the waterfront worker succumbed to his injuries several hours later.  Earlier today, the Crimes Investigation Branch provided an official police report on the deadly encounter.

“At 7:10 p.m., police responded to shots being fired at Central American Boulevard, somewhere in the vicinity of where the Pepsi warehouse is located.  And as a result, they observed a male person by the name of Mr. Raymond Arnold.  Police observed that he had two apparent gunshot wounds.  He was transported to the hospital and he was admitted in a critical condition.  Unfortunately, and sadly, he passed away minutes after, sometime after one a.m.  What police have gathered so far is that Mr. Raymond Arnold had just left his work from the port and was riding his bicycle, along with another friend.  And upon reaching by the place, they were approached by a male person who was riding a motorcycle who came from behind and fired two shots at his direction, causing the abovementioned injuries and causing the fatal injuries to him.”
