Man charged with aggravated assault of minor
An unemployed man was in court this morning accused with aggravated assault of a fourteen year old child. Forty-seven year old Mario Zelaya Jr. pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the number of sexual offences against minors have become prevalent. But Zelaya’s attorney convinced the magistrate otherwise and bail was set at four thousand dollars. The accused must also report to the court every Monday and Friday and is not to interfere with the witness in the case. The girl reported to the police that she was walking on Central American Boulevard on Thursday heading to school when she felt someone grab her from behind. She added that the person lifted her skirt and touched her inappropriately. And according to the minor, she got a friend to follow Zelaya and with help from the police, the accused was detained in the area of the Save-U Supermarket.
