Woman Threatened by Another with Gun in Belama
The evening news is often littered with stories of gun violence, portraying males as the sole perpetrators of incidents where other males are victims of armed assaults. Tonight, however, there is an unusual report of a home invasion in Belize City where a woman approached a residence in the Belama area and fired a single shot in the presence of another woman and her family. According to forty-one-year-old Barbara Myers, at around eight o’clock on Thursday night, a woman walked towards her mother’s home on Cedar Street and pointed a firearm in their direction. The assailant discharged a single round into the air before walking away. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the incident has left Myers and her family distraught. We note that Cedar Street is in the immediate vicinity of the Belama police station. When they responded to the shooting, one expended point three-eighty shell and two live rounds of matching ammunition were recovered from the scene. An investigation into the matter continues.
