Fourteen-year-old alleges forcible rape

A Belize City family is still in shock and disbelief tonight after their daughter claims she was raped as she slept in her bed. According to police, a fourteen-year-old girl has reported that around 3:00 on Monday morning, she was asleep in her room when she woke up to see a man standing at the foot of her bed with a knife in one hand and a machete in the other. The girl says the man held the knife to her throat and had sex with her without her consent. According to the girl’s mother, she was alerted to the incident when she heard her daughter scream. The police have launched an investigation, but at news time tonight no arrests had been made.
