Additional Details Emerge in the Tragic Story of Antwone Marin
The National Committee for Families and Children has issued a release on the tragic passing of young Antwone Marin who died by suicide inside his parents’ bedroom in Seine Bight Village. The frightening incident happened on Monday evening while his siblings were getting their hair braided by a babysitter in the living room of their residence. N.C.F.C. joins One Struggle in offering its deepest sympathies to the Marin family, but also urges parents to listen to their children and take seriously any demonstration of self-hurt or depression and seek assistance from a counselor. There is more from Antwone’s grieving father who, in an interview, opened up to News Five’s Isani Cayetano about the tragedy that has befallen his family. Here is that story.

“Dehn cohn ask me, “Daddy, ah could please go da sea with Gina?” Cause the lady name Gina, right. Dehn call ahn Gina. So when he ask me dat, I tell ahn, “Yes, unu could go da sea.” But I di tell di man, please noh go da deep and di man tell me, “Daddy, I cyant swim, daddy, so I noh gwein da deeps.” So I tell di man, cool. Then dehn tek like wahn hour or seh wahn half an hour da sea and then dehn pass back, three ah them with di young lady weh usually look afta them. So four ah them pass back and then dehn tell me, “Daddy, we gwein bathe.” So dehn gaan home.”
Anwar Marin describes the moment his older daughter informed him of the frightening incident that had taken place in his absence.
“Weh my daughter di tell me, because when I run deh, because da my daughter cohn tell me, “Daddy, Eggy heng ihself noh!” I seh, “What?” And I run home. Now when I run home now, I di brush my house and I noh find di man, because I ask ahn weh paat ih deh. She seh, “Right pan yo bed daddy.” And she di cry. So I run home, but when I run home I noh find di man eena di house, so I run cross ah di neighbor and da same time I kick down di door and I gaan een but he noh di deh. So same time now I di hyah something crazy and I run out again. When I run out da because then di same babysitter she done tek di man affa di rope and she run with ahn by Sleeping Giant, weh paat ih close to fu we area and then da dehn got like six to seven vehicle back deh. So da deh she run wid di lee bwai fu try get assistance fi ker ahn da health center, right. So same time now when I di cohn, she tell me, “Eggy no di breathe noh.” So I seh, “Gial, paat my son deh?” So then I sih my son pan di table motionless because she di try find help but same time when I reach deh, same time di vehicle cohn so I just jump eena di vehicle with the man and I gaan da di health center. And I ker di man and I di give di man CPR and all ah dat because same way too, when I di blow eena di man mouth, like CPR, like four or five grain a white rice fly outta di man nose. While the grieving father accepts that his son was not the victim of anything criminal, he believes that the family has been cursed, pointing to the demise of his niece as the reason for his suspicion.
“Then yo sih my son, he deh right deh wid di babysitter now and yo sih weh happen and dah cause he, I just think funny bout it because then two ah dehn seven, two ah dehn gwein eena standard one, two ah dehn born eena May and then two ah dehn dead eena August. I just think very funny about it dads, honest. I noh suspect no kinda foul play. I just think that something wrong mein, wid di family, somebody di target di family eena dehn negative, evil ways mein.”
