Peyrefitte for Port!!
Mike Peyrefitte’s candidacy for standard bearer in Port Loyola has been formally accepted by the United Democratic Party. He is the second applicant to offer himself in a bid to succeed retiring Area Representative Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez in that constituency. While his intra-party opponent Phillip Willoughby enjoys the support of Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber and National Security Minister John Saldivar, the Attorney General is being backed by Anthony ’Boots’ Martinez. For those skeptics who believe that Peyrefitte’s presence should be felt on the ground, he says that convention day will determine who has been putting in work among delegates in that division.
Mike Peyrefitte, U.D.P. Candidate, Port Loyola
“Unlike Arthur Saldivar, my party has seen it fit to accept my desire to represent them in the Port Loyola constituency. It’s simple, it’s an application you fill out that the party gives you and then bodies in the party meet to decide whether or not they want to accept you even trying to represent them and fortunately for me, my application was successful and the party has said yes, you can try to represent us in the Port Loyola constituency against Mr. Usher.”

“Now several other U.D.P. candidates have come forward vying for that standard bearer’s seat and their thing is, you have to put in the groundwork to be able to convince the delegates that come convention day a vote should be placed in your favor. What have been some of the efforts you’ve made in Port Loyola so far?”
Mike Peyrefitte
“Well you want me to give you my strategy? No, listen. If you don’t know that you have to make certain efforts to win then you don’t deserve to win and on the day of the convention we will know who was working and we will know who was pretending to work. That’s all I will say on that.”

“And it seems as if though you have the backing of the outgoing area rep ‘Boots’ Martinez. Do you believe that this puts you at a certain advantage?”
Mike Peyrefitte
“No. Mr. Willoughby is being backed by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of National Security. He seems to even be backed by the police department. So I don’t know that that puts me at any particular advantage. Certainly, certainly, when it comes to Port Loyola, if I may say so, and I am not contradicting myself, I am just saying this, the backing of Boots Martinez is extremely valuable and in my view, it is my considered view that without his support nobody can win a convention in that division, so I am glad to have his support.”
