Minor and Luis Miguel Beaton Charged for Recent Robberies
Earlier this week we reported about the attempted robbery of Carlos Ortiz at his fruit shop on Coney Drive for which a man was detained. That suspect, Luis Miguel Beaton, was caught by police onboard a city bus, which is believed to be the means of transport used by the alleged culprit to escape from the scenes of a string of robberies on the north side of Belize City. Beaton and a minor have since been charged for aggravated assault, attempt robbery and kept unlicensed firearm. ASP Alejandro Cowo says that a second minor has also been identified as the culprit in the robbery of a tacos vendor, which occurred on the Philip Goldson Highway back in July.

“Are these guys organized? Is it one little group, a clique of criminals?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“Yes we believe it is that same group that has been plaguing the north side of the city and their modus operandi is again scoping the areas that they want to hit and having a vehicle on standby waiting for them. There have been especially the north side, the police have set up several VCPs; at the Chetumal Bridge, Coney Drive and some parts of the Phillip Goldson Highway with the intent of checking especially the dollar vans and the dollars buses that travels or frequents the UB area, the Belama area as these are the same mode of transport that these criminal are using to move from one area to the other area.”
