Security guard suspected in Cayo robbery

Police have detained a security guard for questioning in connection with the robbery of the Belize Water Services office in Santa Elena, Cayo. B.W.S. public relations officer Paul Lecky told News 5 that around two this afternoon a lone dark complexioned gunman entered the office, ordered the guard to lie on the floor and demanded that the cashier turn over the day’s collections, which were in excess of three thousand dollars. Lecky says the robbery appeared perfectly timed to coincide with the departure of the operations staff. Hence, the police suspicion that the robbery may have been the product of collusion between the robber and the guard.
