A Machete-wielding Killer is Captured in El Progresso
A machete-wielding suspect was captured on Wednesday evening after it is alleged that he had dealt a fatal blow to the back of his uncle’s head in El Progresso Village, Cayo District. Twenty-five-year-old Bartimeus Tesecum remains in police custody after a deadly attack on forty-two-year-old Israel Tesecum on Tuesday. In the wake of the incident, villagers came together and formed a search party to locate the perpetrator. According to police, Bartimeus was taken in without incident.

“On Tuesday, August fourteenth, shortly after nine a.m., police responded to an information of a chopping incident in El Progresso Village in the Cayo District which is on the Mountain Pine Ridge Road, whereupon arrival they observed a male person later identified as Israel Tesecum, forty-two-years-old, with a large chop wound behind the neck. As a result, he was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital and later to the Western Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Our initial investigation revealed that the deceased was along with other family members having a meal inside the family home when he was approached by his nephew, one Bartimeus Tesecum who entered the house with a machete and inflicted the said injuries, after which he made good his escape. A search was conducted in the entire area and sometime late yesterday evening, he was captured and is now in police custody pending further investigation and possible charges.”
