Two arrested in village robbery
Two suspects have been arrested after they allegedly held up and attacked the proprietor of a store in the Stann Creek District. The incident took place around 9:00 on Saturday night in Trio Village. According to Martha Perez, she and her common-law husband, Anacleto Garcia were about to close their shop, Henry’s Store, when two young men suddenly jumped through a window and entered the building. Once inside, one of the intruders pushed Perez to the ground and demanded money. According to police after Garcia saw what was taking place, he came to help Perez and that was when he received chop wounds to his head, ear and foot. Police would not say who called for help, but only that when they arrived they saw a man jump out of the store’s window and run off into the bushes. He escaped, but the authorities did manage to catch his partner, a fifteen year old minor who was found inside the shop. He later identified his accomplice as twenty year old Guatemalan national, Oscar Reymundo. Both Reymundo and the minor have been charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm, robbery and aggravated burglary.
