Security Guard at the Law Offices of Courtenay Coye is Shot in the Attempt Robbery of his Weapon

There was a late evening shooting today.  Just before six o’clock this evening, the security guard at the law offices of Courtenay Coye was shot and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Early reports are that two men drove up in a car before opening fire at security guard Lazarus Jeffords, who was hit to the arm and stomach.  Jeffords was walking in the property when he was targeted.  The video footage shows that the shooters attempted to get his gun, but failed. Police soon after arrived to process the scene of the crime where four expended shells were recovered.  Although the officers were closed, attorney Eamon Courtenay and other staff were inside the building when the shooting took place. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras, which are currently reviewing. A News Five team is on its way to another shooting on Trinity Street on the south side of Belize City.
