Prisoner stabbed by other inmates

It appears tonight that despite weekly cell sweeps at the Hattieville Prison, inmates still have access to weapons, and aren’t afraid to use them. Prison officials have reported that around 2:00 a.m. last Friday, thirty-two year Herbert Wiltshire was in his cell when two other prisoners walked into his room and attacked him with a sharpened piece of steel. Wiltshire sustained a stab wound to his face, a cut wound to his throat and abrasions to his head. According to Superintendent of Prisons, Major Errol Gentle, Wiltshire is an inmate in the “A” wing of the Tango Two building, part of minimum security at the facility. Gentle says while the building is designed to confine the prisoners, its layout affords approximately thirty-five inmates access to each other during the night. On Friday evening, wardens scoured the building, but found no weapons. Gentle told News 5 this evening that he believes the weapon and possibly others, were either thrown into the swampy area just behind the building or transferred to another building. The attackers involved in this incident have already been identified, and while officials have yet to release their names, News 5 understands that they have been isolated in a section of the maximum security area of the prison. As for the motive of this crime, we were told an old beef between the three inmates triggered the attack.
