Francis Fonseca Says Debt Responsibility Lies Squarely with PM Barrow

Freetown area rep Francis Fonseca was attorney general when G.O.B. signed off to guarantee the initial loan of thirty-three million dollars. The amount owed today has tripled so he put that responsibility squarely on the lap of the P.M.

“So Prime Minister Barrow gave birth to this ninety million dollar debt, there is no question about that. When he entered office the debt was not existing. There was no debt. Because of his actions and because of his decisions he created this debt, he created this ninety-five million dollar debt. He nurtured and fed that debt all these long ten years. He owns that debt of ninety-five million dollars; he must accept it as his and take responsibility for it. Don’t be a coward and be running behind your colleagues to vote no, accept that you took the wrong decisions and take responsibility for it and most of all stop the lies and deception.”

The vote went seventeen against the payment of the loan; the Opposition, as you’ve heard, did not vote.
