Four burglaries, only one arrest

Burglars were also out in force this week, striking in four far-flung parts of the country. A marina in Sittee River was broken into and goods valued at over thirteen thousand dollars were taken. One suspect has been detained and another is being pursued. In Orange Walk, police are still investigating the theft of five thousand dollars in shoes and clothing from Sonia’s Fashion Store, while in San Pedro a woman’s house was burglarised to the tune of over eleven thousand dollars in gold and silver jewelry. Finally, in Belize City an eighteen-foot fibreglass skiff with forty horsepower outboard was pilfered from its mooring on the Haulover Creek near Berry Street in Belize City. At newstime it had not been recovered.
