Korean company rehires workers
On Monday’s newscast we reported that because of a robbery on Friday afternoon at a factory in Belmopan, management had laid off their employees and threatened to leave Belize. Tonight we are pleased to report that since then, the people from Caribbean Investors Limited have reviewed that move and opted to stay put. Speaking with News 5 this morning, manager John Bae told us that the company’s Korean shareholders have decided to maintain their presence here. After laying off fifty-six of their employees on Saturday, this morning the company, which manufactures marble tiles, rehired all of them. On Friday afternoon, two masked men stole the company payroll, an estimated nine thousand dollars, and disappeared into the bush. Following the incident, the company claimed their Korean engineers were afraid to work and closed up shop.
