UDP ousts nominee in Pickstock
Leader of the Opposition Dean Barrow has consistently maintained his party’s right to replace standard bearers if it was deemed necessary… and today the first casualty of that policy was announced. Kenny Morgan, UDP candidate in the Pickstock Division has been asked to step down by the National Party Council. A UDP release did not give a reason for the decision, but party officials have complained privately for months that Morgan has not been working hard enough in the division. The release says that details of the process for replacing the well-known musician will be provided next week. Morgan was nominated by acclamation last year when he was the only UDP candidate to declare an intention to run. The Pickstock seat is currently held by former Prime Minister George Price, who will retire at the end of his term. Attorney General, Senator Godfrey Smith is the standard bearer for the People’s United Party.
