Seized Cache of Weapons in San Ignacio Traces Back to Salvadoran Army
A cache of firearms and ammunition was seized in an area of San Ignacio Town last Thursday. The hidden supply of weapons and marijuana was discovered in an overgrown property in the Shawville neighborhood. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, one of the guns traces back to El Salvador where the military had reported it stolen sometime ago.

“On September sixth, sometime around 12:30 p.m., San Ignacio police acting on information conducted a joint operation in the Shawville area of San Ignacio Town whereupon arrival a search was conducted in a bushy lot which resulted in the discovery of four weapons being one M6 carbine, a pump twelve shotgun, two nine millimeter pistols and one thousand, two hundred and five grams of cannabis. Our investigation into this matter continues. The weapons were processed. Further investigation into the matter has revealed that one of those weapons was stolen from the Salvadoran military sometime ago whilst checking through our regional system and we will continue to do that throughout this investigation.”
