Caught by Stray Bullet; Police Looking for Suspect
Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting on Sunday night in which a man was injured. Twenty-nine-year-old Darryl Berry it seems was at the wrong place at the wrong time because as he rode his bicycle towards the intersection of Fabers Road Extension and the George Price Highway, he was struck in the leg and ankle by bullets. Investigation has since revealed that an altercation between two persons escalated into a firearm being pulled out. The gunman fired several shots, which caught Berry who was passing by on bicycle. ASP Cowo say that while no one has been detained at this time, the police do have a suspect.
ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
“Darryl Berry, twenty-nine-year-old of Hunters Lane, was riding his bicycle heading from Fabers Road towards the George Price Highway, just before the Puma Gas station when he was approached by a short dark-skinned male person who fired several shots at his direction injuring him to the right knee and the left leg. He was treated and then he was discharged the same night. What the investigation has shown us is that there was an argument between the suspected shooter and somebody else and the person fired a shot and at the same time this person was passing and he was injured.”
