Motorcyclist dies after head-on collision
A traffic accident on the Northern Highway in the evening hours of Tuesday has claimed the life of a young Belize City man. Reports are that twenty-six year old Wayne Westby was on his motorcycle driving towards Belize City when he crashed into a car between miles two and three on the Northern Highway. The driver of the car, forty-nine year old missionary, Freddy Boggs, told police he went to buy fry chicken at Friendship Restaurant and had parked his vehicle on the opposite side of the road just in front of Travellers. Investigations have since revealed that when Boggs got back into his car, he decided to make a U-turn to go to the Biltmore Hotel, and that’s when the accident occurred. Westby was rushed to the K.H.M.H., but was pronounced dead on arrival. Boggs has since been charged with manslaughter by negligence, driving without due care and attention and failure to observe traffic laws when changing lanes.
