62-Year-Old Killed in Hit and Run

There was also a fatal road traffic accident in southern Belize. It occurred in the village of Buena Vista on the Southern Highway and it was also a hit and run where the victim was left on the highway. Sixty-two-year-old Guatemalan farmer, Juan Pop was knocked down and killed between miles forty-four and forty-five.

“Sometime around six-thirty-one p.m., police officers from the intermediate southern formation were called to an area between miles forty-four and forty-five on the Southern Highway where they observed the motionless body of a Hispanic male person later identified to be Juan Pop, sixty-two years Guatemalan farmer of Bella Vista Village lying on the right hand side of the road. This is an isolated area and so far we have no leads in relation to this accident. So again we are seeking the public’s assistance in order to try and bring those concerned to justice in relation to this accident.”
