Shootout between Cops and Alleged Gunman

There was a shootout between police and a gunman in the vicinity of the Swing Bridge on Saturday morning just before five o’clock. A senior officer travelling along with a sergeant of police and a B.D.F. soldier were in an unmarked pickup truck, assigned to the Police Department, when they were alerted of a gunman in the area of Holy Redeemer School.  The officers pursued the individual, who has been identified as Kenrick Longsworth Hendy.  Hendy reportedly opened fire on them and they shot back before Hendy jumped into the Haulover Creek and escaped from the law.  Today, when we spoke with his mother Lavern “Antichrist” Longsworth, she confirmed that her son would hand himself over to the police in the company of his lawyer, Bryan Neal. During the police press brief around two p.m., Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo said that that had not happened.

“Just approaching by Bottom Dolla, they were alerted that a guy was ahead of them with what appeared to be a firearm. They sped the vehicle and went towards that male person and upon stopping the vehicle the person walked between the Swing Bridge and a house located at the corner with the Swing Bridge. And that is when police came out of the vehicle and called for the person to stop, but the person turned back, pointed the firearm at their direction and fired three shots. Police in response pulled out their service firearms and fired several shots at the male person and he managed to jump in the river. Thereafter, police conducted a search and rescue inside the river; however, the person was not found.”

“We know that he is alive. Has he turned himself into police as yet?”

“After that incident, there was several sighting of him in the immediate area. Police was looking for him in that immediate area; however, he managed to get away and up to now he is still out there.”

“I know that law enforcement has been in contact with his mother?”

“Yes, police have been dialoguing. We were told that he wasn’t going to hand over himself this afternoon and the police are waiting on that.”

Hendy is facing possible charges of aggravated assault.
