Classes at Claver College Resumes; Is Board Chair Lisel Alamilla Out?
Classes at Claver College Extension in Punta Gorda resumed at seven o’clock on Monday night, following a meeting of its board of directors. Earlier that evening, students gathered peacefully at the school compound in the presence of six police officers who were reportedly requested by the chairperson Lisel Alamilla. A total of seven board members subsequently showed up for a meeting, including Dave Foreman, a director. A few minutes later, Alamilla emerged from the meeting and left the premises without a word to the media. The meeting of the board, we are told, lasted approximately fifteen minutes, after which staff representative Vanna Noralez invited the remaining eight teachers who had been previously terminated to another meeting. Students were also called in to a sit down before heading back into their respective classrooms. While there has been talk that Alamilla is stepping down as chairperson, it is yet to be confirmed. News Five attempted to speak with her this evening but she hung up on us.
