This show might not rely on proper acoustics, but chances are if you’re interested in art, you’ll hear about it. The Mexican Institute of Culture has invited another one of their artists to display their work for the benefit of the Belizean public, and this afternoon, News 5’s Ann-Marie Williams got a preview of the show.

Tierra y Colores–land and colours is the theme month-long art exhibition, which features the work of Mexican artist of eight years, David Correa of Mexico City. Correa captures nature in oil with all its splendour.

“I prefer to use oil because it’s very easy to do some textures.”

And there’s no reason to question why this artist loves the work of Van Gogh and Picasso, but he especially likes Rufino Tamayo, a fellow hometown artist.

“I love his colours, his textures, his work is very poetic. I can’t explain it, I paint because I love it. It’s like food, you like it or you don’t, and there are no explanations for it, for impulsion. You don’t think, what are you doing, you just do it and this is the result of my work.”

Mexican Ambassador to Belize Arturo Trejo invites Belizeans to view the result of Correa’s work at the Institute of Culture on Newtown Barracks in Belize City.

“At this time we’re presenting David Correa, who is one of the young artists, a very strong expressionism in his paintings. So we are very pleased, and we hope the public will come to enjoy this magnificent exhibition.”

The month long exhibition can be viewed free of charge between 8:30 in the morning and 5:00 p.m. at the Mexican Institute on Newton Barracks.
