Taiwan donates $460,000 to U.B.’s language centre
The government and people of the Republic of China on Taiwan have contributed more than four hundred thousand dollars towards Belize’s Language Centre. In a presentation this morning, Ambassador Charles Tsai handed over a cheque for four hundred and sixty thousand Belize dollars to Prime Minister Said Musa as part of a grant for the Regional Language Centre of the University of Belize. The money comes through a resolution reached at the Ninth Conference of Foreign Ministers between the Republic of China on Taiwan and Central American countries. The university’s centre is charged with the important duty of alleviating the communication barrier to support closer integration by teaching English, Spanish as well as Chinese and Japanese, among other languages.
