Two teens convicted of Robbery
A sentence of three years behind bars was meted out to two teenagers for the crime of Robbery. Nineteen year old Valentine Baptist and eighteen year old David Sutherland re-appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie today after they were found guilty of Robbery last Friday. The two accused chose to remain silent when they were asked if they would like to testify. They were spared the minimum sentence of five years because they have no previous convictions. The complainant, Haitian National, Joseph Duce, testified that the duo approached him at a mechanic shop while he was repairing his vehicle. Duce said one of them pointed a gun at his head, grabbed his gold chain, valued at over a thousand dollars and took his cell phone. But as Sutherland and Baptist rode off, Duce drew his licensed pistol and fired at them; hitting Sutherland in the back.
