Romario Pech Found Not Guilty, Released from Mexican Jail
After sitting in a Mexican jail for seventeen months, tonight Yo Creek resident Romario Pech is a free man. News Five has confirmed that Pech is on his way to Belize from Mexico after being released from prison. He was accused of fatally stabbing his cousin, nineteen-year-old Saul Pech in May 2017 at their apartment in Chetumal. Sources close to the family told News Five that Romario’s criminal trial began last week after being postponed for weeks due to a riot which broke out at the prison where he was held. The trial was held without jury and the judge found him not guilty around midday today. Saul was stabbed and died on the balcony of the apartment the cousins were living in. At the time of the incident, officials from the Mexican embassy here in Belize told News Five that Romario had been charged with manslaughter.
