Finnegan: Budget is deception
Although falling well short of his usual four-hour filibuster, the member of the House who spoke volumes today was the Representative for Mesopotamia, Michael Finnegan. Using a stack of note-cards several inches thick, Finnegan maintained that the picture of the economy being painted by the Government is an exercise in deception.
Michael Finnegan, Area Rep., Mesopotamia
“The Prime Minister and his government should stop saying that everything as far as this economy is concerned is good, that a lot a money deh. Stop saying the economy is good, stop saying a lot a money deh, because the people out there are not experiencing any economic growth, any economic integrity. There is a lack of finance out there in the streets, people can’t put their hands on money, people can’t put food on the tables for their children. People have problems in educating their families, people have problems with meeting their healthcare situation, while the Prime Minister and this government continue to say and to fool and try to fool the people of this country that the economy is so good, and so much money deh et cetera. When the Prime Minister and his government know for a fact that it is not so.”
