Police Are Looking for Suspect in Tai Fu Robbery
Armed robberies of business establishments have not been confined to Belize City. On Tuesday, a Chinese store was jacked in the capital by an armed thief. The robbery was caught on tape and the perpetrator can be clearly identified. But the police say they have been unable to make any progress since the owner of Tai Fung Store has not come forward to make any complaint.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“On Tuesday, sometime around 11:30 a.m., police responded to an information of a robbery in the San Martin area of Belmopan City where they visited a Chinese store, where it was learned that shortly before 11:30, one male person of Creole descent, armed with a handgun, visited the area where held up the owner of the place and demanded money. So far police have been unable to get any other information, including not getting cooperation from the owner of the establishment… No [an] official report has not been made either.”

“Okay, no official report has been made. Now in this case, the video that we all saw, the person appears on camera quite clearly. Is it anyone known to police? Is it someone suspected from the Belmopan area or Belize City?”
Joseph Myvett
“Well the police is looking for one person in that regard, however… without a complaint, but we are, we could probably recover the firearm if that person is found.”
