BelAIFA Donates To Liberty Children’s Home
Between October twenty eight and November third, members of the Belize Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors embarked in their annual food drive. Every year BelAIFA carries out this charity exercise and donates all goods collected to Liberty Children’s Home. This morning, several pounds of rice and beans, canned foods, and several others items were officially handed over to the child caring institution. News Five’s Hipolito Novelo reports.

Like in previous years, the Belize Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, BelAIFA, celebrations carried out a food drive during Insurance Week. Several food items were collected and this morning the non-perishable goods were handed to Liberty Children’s Home.
Olga Herrera, President, BelAIFA
“We did a lot of rice and flour because that was one of the main things they have asked us for and in addition to that we did a lot of cereal, milk, we did some fruits. We try to do a combination of everything.”

“How important was it for BelAIFA to be a part of this?”
“Form an association standpoint we believe that we should care for our community. I think as insurance advisor we just not take from the client but we feel that we need to give back and like what the holy word says it is only in giving back that we receive. So it is important for us to give back.”
Liberty Children’s Home caters to the holistic needs of more than thirty children so BelAIFA’s donation is greatly appreciated.
Agatha Valentine, Executive Director, Liberty Children’s Home
“I feel overwhelmed. I am happy. It is always good to have local involvement, It shows us that we have not lost it all as a community, people are still giving back. So we appreciate on a yearly basis what BelAIFA those for us at Liberty Children’s Home.”
According to Executive Director, Agatha Valentine, the donation will permit the child caring institution to channel resources elsewhere in order to fully meet the needs of the children.
“When we look at providing holistic care and providing the needs for thirty plus children on a daily basis, it can be excessive. It is a lot. We are looking at a monthly expenditure of thirty thousand dollars. So what this will enable us to do is to put some resources in another direction. So it has to do with our children welfare. I see fruits, vegetables. We are looking a balance meal and a balance diet which isn’t always easy to accomplish. So we are very grateful for BelAIFA’s contribution.”

“I am sure the children will be happy as well.”
Agatha Valentine
“Definitely. I see cereal and they love cereal. So we will be able to add to the menu and diversify the menu a bit with what people have donated.”
