Elrington Has U.D.P. Endorsements for Standard Bearer
In the 2015 elections, Chang stepped aside to make way for Barnett to run against the P.U.P.’s Francis Fonseca; he was subsequently named President of the Senate. This time around, things have changed and Chang has been running television and radio ads supporting Elrington. When we caught up with Elrington today, he told the media that the support he needs is from the people of the Freetown.
Orson ‘OJ’ Elrington, Candidate, U.D.P. Convention, Freetown
“The deputy prime minister is an absolutely wonderful man. John Saldivar, excellent man. But you know whose endorsement matters to me, the endorsement of the people of Freetown. That is the endorsement which is most important to me; that is the endorsement which I am seeking and that is the endorsement which I think I fully have. And so whosoever endorses a candidate, it is neither here nor there; that is nice for optics and it is nice to help with organization, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is that the people of Freetown endorse me—that they have seen the work that I have done in a short period of time as a candidate in the constituency. We’ve been able to achieve more in four months than the current standard bearer and that current area rep in twenty years and four years.”
