Indigenous leaders meet at OAS
Representatives of indigenous groups from around the Americas are meeting at the OAS in Washington to draft a declaration of rights. The working group, which includes member country delegations, will attempt to create a draft document, which covers cultural development, as well as social, economic and political rights for descendants of the region’s earliest inhabitants. Representing the indigenous peoples of Belize is Greg Ch’oc of the Toledo Maya Cultural Council. The meeting runs through the end of this week.
