PM Barrow Disappointed that Mike Peyrefitte Lost Port Convention
Prime Minister Dean Barrow says he is disappointed that Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte lost his bid to represent Port Loyola for the U.D.P. in the upcoming general elections. Peyrefitte, AC Shane Castillo and Dean Samuels were all defeated by former councilor Philip Willoughby. For some Willoughby’s win was an upset within the U.D.P., for others it is well deserved. But for PM Barrow, Peyrefitte’s loss was disappointing but he believes that Willoughby can also defeat the P.U.P.’s, Gilroy Usher.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I am disappointed that Michael did not win the Port Loyola Convention because I thought he would have made an excellent representative in the house. I think he is a fine Senator and has acquitted himself so very well that elevation and promotion to the House would have been appropriate. But please, let me be absolutely clear Philip Willoughby as a grass root candidate, as somebody who is absolutely plugged in to the sort of constituency that Port Loyola is, will make a fine candidate so I have no political regrets about the outcome at all. Except, as I said that I feel for my friend Mike. No difficulties with the result and I would actually be willing to wager that Philip Willoughby will win that constituency.”
