Brother v. brother in Supreme Court

Representing the applicants on the other side of the aisle is none other than Denys Barrow’s own brother and Leader of the Opposition: Dean. Dean joined the case late in the game, teaming up with attorney Marilyn Williams. But Barrow’s tardiness did not affect his performance.

“Having been granted leave for judicial review, what’s that next step now as far as your clients are concerned?”

Dean Barrow, Attorney

“To take it through to a full hearing, which will then decide the merits of the application.”

Janelle Chanona

“The merits of this case, you feel they are sufficient for to meet your client’s ends?”

Dean Barrow

“I don’t want to comment on that, I only came into the matter two days ago and had to concentrate all my efforts on trying to ensure the grant of leave. I have not had a chance to examine the merits properly, so I just am not in a position to comment.”

“Speaking on the fact that you just entered the case, some analysts would look at that and say that it’s a ploy that would indicate that somehow politics is getting involved and it’s coming up to a high profile case now. What’s the answer to that?”

Dean Barrow

“Well I hope the tax department doesn’t come calling, but I’m being properly paid. This is a professional assignment, for which I am being properly remunerated.”

The date of the judicial review hearing has yet to be set, but News 5 understands the trial should start within the next six weeks.
