PC Steven Ferguson Laid to Rest by Police Department
PC Steven Ferguson was today laid to rest by the Belize Police Department in his home village of Hattieville. Ferguson died on November twenty-first in a house he was renting with his common-law-wife, Josephine Hamilton. He fatally shot Hamilton before turning the gun on himself. The couple was involved in a volatile relationship for years and neighbours say that Hamilton was a victim of domestic violence. And if you are wondering why the police department took care of PC Ferguson’s funeral arrangements and gave him an official funeral service, given the circumstances of a murder/suicide during this year’s Sixteen Days of Activism, ACP Joseph Myvett says it is a practice done by the department despite the circumstances leading to his death.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“As we do in all police funeral, the police are buried by the police department and not a state funeral as is being asked. It is an official funeral as we do for all police officers but not a state funeral.”

“That is what we do in all police funerals.”
