B.T.L. goes 7-digits in May
Another sign that Belize is being irresistibly sucked into the mainstream of global life is the decision by B.T.L. to switch from our current five-digit telephone numbers to the internationally accepted seven-digit system. According to a release from BTL, the new scheme will be implemented on May first. Customers will keep their present numbers as the last five digits, with two new ones added up front according to the particular district and the type of service provided. The new numbers will be listed in the soon to be released 2002 telephone directory and customers can also double check their number by calling B.T.L. customer service or going to the B.T.L. site on the internet.
