B.E.L. Gives Back for Christmas
On Christmas morning, most of us spent the day at home with our families or out celebrating with friends. For B.E.L employees, it was a morning to keep with the tradition of preparing and serving breakfast to the homeless and shut-ins in Belize City. This holiday season marks the twentieth year since the utility company has been spreading good tidings across the country. In some of its other charitable acts for this month, the company and its staff gifted Christmas hampers to one hundred and fifty families countrywide. The hamper drive culminated last Friday with ninety families and sixty senior citizens receiving hampers. All year long, the utility company and its employees donated to put together food baskets with traditional Christmas dinner items, other groceries and toiletries, valued at three hundred dollars each. In addition to the hampers, the company also sponsored luncheons and its employees volunteered at Belize Assemblies for Persons with Diverse Abilities, Welcome Resource Center, and for the elderly at Octavia Waight Center in Cayo, Casa Chan Ka’an in Corozal Town, and HelpAge Belize City.
