Auil replaces Arnold at Central bank
It had been rumoured for weeks, and today the Ministry of Budget Management made it official. Keith Arnold, Central Bank Governor for the last decade, will be leaving that post as of the end of March. Arnold, who earned a reputation as a professional survivor, worked more or less comfortably under both PUP and UDP governments. Succeeding Arnold as governor at a time when the economy is under severe foreign exchange pressure, is Melton Auil. Auil, a former general manager of Barclays Bank and more recently the Social Security Board, is seen as a safe political choice, who will work closely with the present government.
